So anyone who listens to a decent amount of talk radio knows the majority of the hosts have a deep dislike for John McCain.
The lone voice of support is Michael Medved. I like Medved. I like his show. I think he is an excellent debater. He knows how to smack a hippy. But I think that he is blinding himself in this '08 race.
I called into his show today to take issue with something that he said that I found pretty ludicrous. He was claiming that Mitt's experience in the private sector was not a bonus to someone running for the office of the president.
My question was simple. Conservatives think that the way towards American prosperity involves less, not more government. I asked if Medved thinks that Mitt believes this. Medved said no.
Now, any legitimate observer of the Republican field who looks at Mitt Romney can say without question - his strength is displayed in his work in the private sector and his economic bonafides play well in this turbulent time.
You wanna try and tell me that a man who's been heavily involved in the business world doesn't understand the need to have less government interference in business. Please. That's ridiculous.
I think Michael Medved hits the nail on the head here with his article entitled, The Essence of Liberalism: Embracing Life's Losers.
Here's a taste,
That's the problem with liberal sympathy for the downtrodden and underprivileged: if you make too much progress, you’ll compromise your claims to advocacy and assistance. The best victim groups are those that reliably maintain their victim status. In this sense, the leftist world view effectively discourages empowerment or the pursuit of prosperity and pushes suffering subgroups to more or less permanent self pity.
