Thanks to HotAir.com for making it the quote of the day yesterday. Here's your trackback.
“What would have happened if Obama’s bill had passed? There is no way to know for sure, but it seems likely that, facing less resistance, Al Qaeda in Iraq would have continued to gain strength, the fragile Iraqi Security Forces would have collapsed, as would the fragile Iraqi government, militias would have flourished–and the United States would have departed under fire, accepting a humiliating defeat in the war against al Qaeda that would have reverberated globally.
For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.”
Okay. There are problems with McCracken (as my phones predictive text calls him).
But here's the bottom line:
He will build up the military.
He will veto bills with earmarks.
He will elect constructionist judges.
He will pursue the war against radical jihad.
He will build a fence first.
He will reduce spending.
He will cut taxes.
Those are real big issues for me. As such, I will be voting for McCain in the general, but as far as donating/organizing...fuhgeddaboudit.
Oh. My. God.
John McCain.
Please...stop putting me to sleep.
So anyone who listens to a decent amount of talk radio knows the majority of the hosts have a deep dislike for John McCain.
The lone voice of support is Michael Medved. I like Medved. I like his show. I think he is an excellent debater. He knows how to smack a hippy. But I think that he is blinding himself in this '08 race.
I called into his show today to take issue with something that he said that I found pretty ludicrous. He was claiming that Mitt's experience in the private sector was not a bonus to someone running for the office of the president.
My question was simple. Conservatives think that the way towards American prosperity involves less, not more government. I asked if Medved thinks that Mitt believes this. Medved said no.
Now, any legitimate observer of the Republican field who looks at Mitt Romney can say without question - his strength is displayed in his work in the private sector and his economic bonafides play well in this turbulent time.
You wanna try and tell me that a man who's been heavily involved in the business world doesn't understand the need to have less government interference in business. Please. That's ridiculous.
