They accepted my offer and I start escrow tomorrow!
Within a month we should be living in the new condo :)
Buying a house SUCKS. We looked, and looked, and looked. We found one that is just about perfect. We put in a low ball offer, but we are putting a TON down.
We put down a deposit, we went with a short escrow, we provided documents showing where the money in coming from.
We were asked to up our offer. Done.
Then we were asked to up the deposit, shorten the escrow again, and get another letter about my inheritance. Fine.
Now they are asking for even MORE of a deposit...why??? The deposit is part of my huge down payment, so what difference does it really make in the long run?
I'm done with this place. They can take it or leave it. I'm not going to continue going back and forth with them over a measly $2000.
We are working with a new realtor now. The first one just wasn't for us...he was nice, but didn't do what I needed. In total, I think we have seen 12 properties now.
There has only been one that we REALLY liked, but due to a lack of research on the former realtor's part, we later found out that the house already has multiple offers that are way out of our price range. Had he called about the house first, we wouldn't have even gone to it, and we wouldn't be disappointed.
Not sure if we are going out this weekend with the new realtor, but I do know she has another couple places lined up for us to go look at.
This is...frustrating. And we just started, so I know this is going to last awhile. It is so hard finding a good place. There are so many factors that make us not like a place, whether it is too many upgrades need to be done, the bedrooms/bathrooms are too small, bad parking situations, crappy kitchens, small backyards. Ugh.
How are you celebrating the 4th of July?
Sarah, David, baby Ethan, Tim and I went to the Angels game. It was fun! I haven't been to a game in...I can't remember the last time. We had fun playing with Ethan and taking silly pictures and it was a good game - they won! I was surprised I really enjoyed the game. Stupidly, Tim and I forgot to eat so we waited in line for 30 minutes. At least we brought water bottles, so we didn't have to spend $10 for water. After the game there was a really cool fireworks display. I love fireworks :). We had a really good time!
Things have been great! This weekend was nice and busy. Thursday after work, Audrey & Aaron came over for drinks. Friday morning my dad brought my niece over and we hung out all day. Friday night my niece, Kev & I went to Steff & Andy's 4th of July BBQ. Fireworks are legal in Costa Mesa, so we sat in front of their house and watched Andy, his cousin, and Kev do fireworks in the street. They live across the street from the golf course, and they had a beautiful firework show that we had an excellent view of.
Saturday morning we took my niece back to my parents house, then Kev, Adrian & I headed out to Temecula for wine tasting. We were out there about four hours and we had a good time. Last night Kev went to a UFC fight at his friend's house, so I went to hang out with my friend Heather. I brought one of the bottles of wine that I picked up in Temecula, and we sat in her backyard drinking and talking for about three hours. I came home last night around midnight, and went to bed. I slept soooo good last night! It's hard for me to sleep in, but I was able to do it today...I didn't get up until about 11:30 :)
Today we are going grocery shopping and just hanging out at home. Tomorrow we are going out with our Realtor to check out six places that we are interested in. In about 20 days I will have my money! I can't wait to buy a house...I am so excited!
Last week the Realtor took us to a condo in Anaheim Hills. We didn't like it very much, so I hope we like the stuff we see this week. I know we will find something great :)
Happy Birthday America!
I am quite sad because I didn't get to see any fireworks... However, I did enjoy a nice dinner and time in the spa with my hubby and Andrew and Kim.
On Thursday we just got home from our vacation in South Carolina. We flew out of LAX on Friday night at almost 11 PM. We got to see the sun rise on the plane. It was pretty cool. For any of you who know me, you know that I do not like being stuck in an airplane. I did pretty well. I was anxious for the first half of the flight while we watched The Matrix, but once that was done I put on my ipod and escaped into my own little world for a while.
We got in at 6:30 am in Charlotte, NC. We were picked up and taken to my cousin's house. We went mainly because my cousin Kara Beth was getting hitched. We hung out and napped before the wedding. The wedding was super beautiful. They had 10 attendants each plus a flower girl and ring bearer. There were probably 350+ people there. HUGE! We were way under dressed. Someone (I am not sure who) came up to us at the reception and said "You must be the visitors from California" in a total southern drawl. Then he leans down to his granddaughter and says "Guess where these people are from". It was totally rude but extremely funny at the same time.
After the wedding we stayed at our friends, Jerem and Terra's house. It was pretty cool. They were super awesome hosts, and fed us home cooked meals the whole time we were there. We got to view some pretty neat places, a dairy barn which had goats, cows, horses and donkeys, a golf-course community where you can buy a plot of land and build a custom home for $800,000 and up, Lake Wiley and the city of Charlotte.
I am glad to be home, I missed my kittens. It was a good week away from work though :) I am dreading Monday.
